Music Ministry

First United Methodist Church in Clarion is proud of our Music Ministry.  We offer a variety of musical opportunities for all age groups and we WELCOME you to participate!

Children’s Choir meets various Sundays from 9:00-9:30am in the dining room.  Please contact Sarah Matson at 814-221-6483 for more information.

Pathfinders practice every Sunday, from 8:30-9:00am in the choir room.  Anyone in grades 7 through 12 is invited to participate.  Pathfinders perform the third Sunday of each month at the 9:45am worship service.

Singing Angels practice every Sunday, from 9:30-9:45am in Room 200.  Children in preschool through grade 4 are invited to participate.  The Singing Angels perform the second Sunday of each month at the 11:00am worship service.  Please call Peggy Jo Staab at 226-5689 for more information.

Bells will practice on Sundays from 9:00-9:15am in Room 212.  Anyone in fourth grade or older is invited to participate.  Please call Peggy Jo Staab at 226-5689 for more information.

Chimes will practice on Sundays from 9:15-9:30am in Room 212.  Anyone in second grade or older is invited to participate.  Please call Peggy Jo Staab at 226-5689 for more information.

Chancel Choir – Do you love to sing?  Do you want to have fun?  Do you want to be part of a wonderful church family?  Well, we would love to have you come join us in the Chancel Choir.  Practice is on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:00pm.  We sing at the 11:00am church service throughout the church year, as well as the 8:30am church service the last Sunday of the month.  No audition necessary, so please come and join us.

You are certainly welcome to join in any of the church’s choirs, and all the members welcome you with open arms.

Clarion Community Choir:
Many of our members participate in the Clarion Community Choir.  The Clarion Community Choir welcomes anyone high school age or older who enjoys singing.  Music reading ability is not required. Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:30pm here at the church.

The Choir was founded in 1975 under the direction of Fran Shope, and is sponsored by the First United Methodist Church.  Current director is Zachary Covington, and accompanist is Mary Brooks.

Activities include the annual Autumn Leaf Festival Concert, Christmas and Spring Concerts. Past activities have included a Sunday night Song Service at Chautauqua Institute, a trip to Clarion, Iowa to sing at their June Festival in the Park, a two week tour to Germany, Austria, Leichtenstein, Switzerland, and Italy, singing at the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., and other special appearances for concerts in the local area.
